Developing Skills and Capacity Award

For the third year running Ark Housing has been recognised by its peers in the housing sector as an exemplar of good practice. Following on from last years success Ark Housing in collaboration with Smart Move NI were awarded the Developing Skills and Capacity Award at the prestigious CIH Housing Awards held in the Ulster Museum.

Ark Housing and Smart Move have worked together over a number of years to deliver a range of joint learning opportunities. In 2010 the two organisations commissioned the CIH to deliver the first nationally recognised qualification for Homeless Support Staff. The CIH Certificate in Supporting Homeless People was launched in December 2010.

The qualification is a first in Northern Ireland and all participants passed  with either a Merit or Distinction.

Both organisations have seen significant improvement and we ensure all staff have the right skills to meet the needs of our vulnerable service users.
