Ark Housing is proud to support older tenants and to create opportunities for community engagement that strengthen wellbeing. One partnership we are especially proud of is the long-standing link between Conor House, our independent living scheme for tenants over 55, and St Genevieve’s High School.
For more than 20 years, students and teachers from St Genevieve’s have worked with tenants at Conor House. Together they have hosted bingo sessions and intergenerational events that bring young people and older residents into the same room to talk, listen, and share experience.
Recently, students from St Genevieve’s called into Conor House for a friendly chat with tenants. It was a simple visit, built around conversation and an exchange of ideas. Moments like that show what Positive Ageing Month is for: ordinary contact, mutual respect, and the pleasure of each other’s company.
Ark Housing thanks St Genevieve’s High School for its continuing partnership with Conor House, and for the part it plays in Positive Ageing Month. Relationships like this remind us that older people are not on the edge of community life. They are at the centre of it.
