Security risks can be reduced by following a few simple steps:
• Always close all windows and lock the front and back doors when you go out. • Never leave the front door key under the doormat or on a piece of string behind the door. • Check the identity of all callers. Most officials will carry means of identification. • If you are going away for a period of time, cancel newspapers and milk. • Inform the Office or the Scheme Supervisor (if you live in a sheltered scheme) if you plan to be away for a prolonged period. • If your scheme has a communal entrance door with a door entry system, NEVER admit anybody to the scheme if you do not know them.
