Ark Housing will act promptly on rent arrears to prevent tenants falling into unmanageable debt.  The Association will act in a professional and understanding manner and will make every effort to assist a tenant who is in arrears by offering them appropriate debt counselling.  It is the Association’s policy to agree realistic repayment schedules with tenants who are in arrears.

When a tenant is 4 weeks in arrears and it is not due to Housing Benefits delay, the following procedure will be administered:

The Association will seek to treat all its tenants with fairness and equality.  Tenants have the opportunity to appeal to the Management Committee if the Association is considering debt recovery action through the courts.
