The Association insures the structure of the building and fixtures but it is not responsible for the contents of your home or your personal possessions.
Therefore you are advised to take out a Home Contents Insurance Policy which should cover you for any losses caused by fire, theft and flooding, etc. You should check that your policy includes a ‘liabilities clause’ to cover accidental damage to items in your home. Many policies will also include cover for broken windows.
Some policies also include a clause to protect you against legal liabilities if someone is injured or their property is damaged whilst in your home. To include this clause in your policy should not cost you very much each week compared to the money and distress it could save you.
