In cold weather it is important that you keep your house as warm as possible if you are out during the day. If you will be away for a long period during cold weather you should notify the Scheme Supervisor (if you live in sheltered housing) or the office.
If you have a burst pipe:
• Turn off the water supply at the main stopcock, this is usually located under the sink. • Report the repair to the office or the Scheme Supervisor, if you live in a sheltered scheme, immediately. • Turn on all taps to drain the system. • Turn off the immersion heater. • If you have an open fire in your home DO NOT LIGHT IT.
