Cumain House was completed in 1996. The flats are located at Steele Dickson Gardens in the picturesque village of Portaferry. The scheme is within easy walking distance of the shops and the beautiful lough-shore, from where you can catch the ferry to the village of Strangford, just across the bay.
This attractive scheme, stands three stories high and is situated in its own grounds. Cumain House has 25 flats for those of retirement age. These comprise 8 two person, one-bedroom flats and 17 one person, one-bedroom flats. Those on the first and second floors can be reached either by lift or one of three stairways. All our flats have a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and are carpeted throughout.
Each individual flat is installed with a help-line system for the additional safety and security of tenants. The system is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday, a call will be answered by the Resident Supervisor. At all other times your call will be answered by the monitoring service provided by the Fold Telecare, who will deal with your needs.
There are two separate common rooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Each common room has a kitchen where meals can be prepared for functions run by and for tenants.
There is also a guest room available for use by families, a laundry room and a hairdressing room.
Cumain House has been built in sympathy with the architecture of the town and provides sheltered accommodation within a largely, rural setting.
