Conor Rise/Conor Close is a pleasant housing development located on the corner of the Shaws and Stewartstown Roads in West Belfast. There are 83 properties laid out in four separate and quiet cul-de-sacs. The housing has been built to provide comfortable and affordable homes for the able-bodied, the elderly and those who have a family member in a wheelchair.
There are 13 two-bedroom houses, 13 three-bedroom houses, all of which are for general family requirements. There are 26 two-bedroom bungalows built to mobility standards for the elderly with a further 12 three-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom bungalows built to full wheelchair accessible standards. The scheme has been provided with a small common room for use as meeting place.
Conor Close consists of 13 units of accommodation. There are 2 x 4 bed wheelchair bungalows, 2 x 2 bed mobility bungalows for persons over 60 and 9 x 3 bed lifetime designed homes. A help –line system has been provided in all rooms of each of the bungalows at Conor rise. This consists of a cord that hangs from the ceiling to the floor. When any of the cords are pulled an emergency call is put through to our service provider, the Fold Telecare. A speech unit located in the hallway allows the Helpline operator and tenant to converse. This service is provided 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year.
Wheelchair bungalows also have a door entry system that can be operated from the living room or the bedroom. This system will allow the occupier to speak to a caller at the door without having to leave the room and, if they wish, they can allow entry to their home at the push of button.
Conor Rise is located close to shops, schools and churches and is on regular bus and taxi route.
