Ark Housing, previously Down and Connor Housing Association, opened it’s first sheltered housing scheme in April 1993. This scheme is called Conor House.
Conor House is two stories high with the upper floor accessible by lift or stairways. There are 35 flats for the elderly provided within the scheme. They consist of 10 two-person, one-bedroom flats and 25 one-person, one-bedroom flats. All flats are carpeted throughout.
A help line system is in place to help our tenants enjoy a full and independent lifestyle, in the knowledge and reassurance, that help may be summoned if required. Every room in each flat has a help-line cord that hangs from ceiling to floor. This may be pulled to summon assistance and if the Scheme Supervisor is on duty, he/she will answer the call. At all other times our service provider, the Fold Telecare, monitors this service. The help-line service is provided 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year.
A Common Room, which is used for functions, a hairdressing room and guest room are just some of the facilities available to residents.
The grounds of Conor House are laid out in lawns and flowerbeds. Ample car parking is provided to the front and rear of the building.
The building is located close to shops and a Post Office and there are also several churches nearby. A regular bus and Taxi service operates just outside Conor House.
