Ark Housing (formerly known as Down and Connor housing Association) is a small to medium sized association which was founded in 1987 by the then Bishop of the Diocese of Down and Connor, His Eminence Cardinal Cathal Daly.
The Association is registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts (N.I) 1969 and 1976 which means it is a non-profit making organisation. It is registered to operate throughout Northern Ireland and caters for a variety of client groups providing accommodation for families, older people and people with disabilities and in addition manages a homeless family centre.
The Association is also registered with the Department for Social Development. This enables us to apply for financial assistance from the government for the purchase and development of property in approved schemes. The performance of the Association including the achievement of the standards set out in the TENANT’S GUARANTEE is subject to monitoring and direction by the Department.
