On 26th August 2010, Social Development minister Alex Attwood officially cut the first sod in the launch of our development at Crewhill, Ardglass.
Ark Housing’s commitment to its organisational training and development has resulted in the association achieving accreditation as an approved centre by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) to deliver training.
Ark Housing Association recently won the ‘overall achievement in housing’ award at the inaugural Northern Ireland Housing Awards hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing Northern Ireland.
Ark Housing received the accolade having already topped the ‘Developing Skills and Capacity’ award category. Both awards were presented to Ark Housing in recognition of its work in creating a culture of innovation, creativity and continuous improvement within the organisation.
Last September the residents of Conor House decided to make a memory quilt. The idea came from conversations during an afternoon tea party. Residents felt that they would like to make something tangible to mark those friends that had passed away and also to mark their own lives within the walls of Conor House.
A variety of organisations were invited to participate in a Health and Wellbeing Day at Ark Housing’s Roseville House. Highway to Health provided advice on how to balance good health with daily living, Chest Heart and Stroke NI presented information on the benefits of regular exercise, lowering alcohol consumption and eating a low cholesterol diet.
Ark HA is the first housing association in Northern Ireland to scoop the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award.
